Angels Listen

Photography by Peter MacDonald

I was told they do,
Am I sure not a clue,
Why do you care?
Think there’s a rule,
One angel per shoulder,
They make life your school,
If you dismiss them you’re
among the few,
I’m not taking any chances
And won’t be a fool,
It’s the last angel that comes
to you with a victor’s lance,
Then there’s no more worry
As you are ascending through
clouds in a vaporous dance,
last word: where Angels
Fear to tread,
Fools rush in and Angels
End up dead.
